8 Great Quotes From The Best Motivational Speaker Of Our TimeMy first (and best) product I ever owned of Jim’s was an audio tape called The Art Of Exceptional Living. It’s a little under two hours and let me tell you something… I cannot recommend this tape highly enough! It will start a flame of burning desire in you that simply will not go away. Every time I go on a two hour drive somewhere I put this tape in. And every time it gets me more and more excited about life and what will come in the future. Quite frankly, I think it should be required listening in every school so that everyone can benefit from hearing the great philosophy that Jim Rohn has. With all of that being said, I’d like to give you a taste of what Jim’s philosophy is all about. He has come up with some of the greatest quotes that I have ever heard before. It wouldn’t be a bad idea for you to write each quote down below and read them to yourself every morning you wake up and each night before you go to bed. Apply this great philosophy in your life and you will be well on your way towards exceptional living… 1. “Work harder on yourself than you do on your job.” This is a fundamental key that you should never forget. You see, when you work hard on your job, you will make a good living. But if you work hard on yourself, you will make a fortune. Many people go to work every day and work very hard. They do everything that is asked of them and they do it as quickly as they possibly can. They do this over and over again but rarely get compensated for their hard work. The problem lies in their inability to grow. You see, in order to move yourself up the success ladder, you have to become a different person then you were when you were at the bottom of the ladder. Take for example someone who is a top executive at McDonald’s who first started out at the cash register taking people’s orders. Do you really think that person is the same today as they were when they first started? Of course not! They have knowledge and skills that they never even dreamed of having at first! This is the power behind working hard on yourself. Spend more of your time reading books and becoming more knowledgeable in your field of study. By doing so, over time you will become much more valuable to your company then you would if you simply worked hard on your day-to-day tasks. 2. “Set a goal to become a millionaire, for what it will make of you to achieve it.” Don’t set a goal to become a millionaire because of the money. If you set a goal to become a millionaire and you reach your goal, you can give all of the money away! The money isn’t what is important! It’s who you become on the journey of reaching your goal. Similar to the previous quote, you become a different person as you grow in life. Your philosophy changes, the way that you think changes. As you grow, you look back at the way you once were and you laugh at that person that you used to be. You start to think about the attitudes you once had about certain things and you wonder to yourself why you ever thought that way. That’s the real benefits that you get when you set a goal to become a millionaire. The reason you can give all of the money away is because with the person you have become, you can easily get it all back. If Bill Gates gave away all of his money today, every technology company in the world would be banging down his door with multi million dollar salaries to offer him. This is because he has become so valuable in the technology field that the person he is today is worth billions of dollars in and of itself. If you haven’t yet, I strongly encourage you to set a goal to become a millionaire. Don’t worry about the how. That’s not what is important. Just set the goal and start the process of learning how you could do it. Pick up the finance books, the wealth books, and the books in your field that will help you reach your goal. Learn as much as you possibly can and notice how far you go in only a matter of a few months. 3. “Failure is a few errors in judgment, repeated every day. Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day.”
This quote is the core idea behind the one thing that I want to teach you. If you can learn and understand this, I believe you will go very far in life. Success is not some glorified thing that happens to you one day. Instead, it’s the accumulation of the little things that add up that make the difference. In order to have a successful year, you need to have successful months. In order to have a successful month, you need to have some successful weeks. For a successful week, you need to have some successful days. And in order to have a successful day, you need to have some successful hours. It may not seem like what you do in the next hour will make much difference. But you can’t have a successful year unless you start right now by having a successful hour. You must start today by making the little changes that set you up for great success later. It’s the only way to get ahead in life. The changes that you make do not have to be big changes. In fact, the littler the changes the better. Just make little change after little change and eventually they will turn into big changes. Remember that things you need to do to be successful are easy to do. The problem is and the reason why everybody isn’t a success is because these things are also easy not to do. You must have incredible discipline. Which leads right into the next quote… 4. “We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.” It’s a very simple choice that you make each and every day. You either make the choice to work hard and stay focused on reaching your goals. Or… You take it easy and say to yourself that you will work on it some other time. This should be a huge warning sign to you when you have a day which you don’t get half of the things done that you set out to do and you say to yourself that it’s no big deal. The thing is… You won’t have the pain of regret that day. Not even that week. No, the pain of regret comes when you look back over several years and realize you haven’t come nearly as far as you hoped for. Nothing saddens me more then when I see someone in the late years of their life and it’s so obvious that they haven’t accomplished nearly as much as they probably wanted to. They haven’t traveled to the places they wanted to go. They haven’t done the things that they wanted to do. It just kills me when I see this. These people simply didn’t develop the disciplines that they needed to in order to succeed. Instead, they thought today was just another day and that it wouldn’t have that much impact on tomorrow. I’m hear to tell you now, it does have an impact! Money comes and goes. But once time is spent, it’s gone and it never comes back. Be disciplined. Make today as valuable as you can possible make it. It may not seem like a big deal now but it will over time! Discipline is the hardest but most rewarding quality you will ever have. 5. “Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.” You simply cannot stop learning once your days of schooling is over. There is no other way around this. High school and/or college should only be the beginning of your moments of learning and education. You need to learn in order to grow. And you need to grow in order to make it anywhere worth going to in this world. The reality is that formal education will only take you so far. There comes a point when you have to go above and beyond the type of learning that you get in a classroom. Teachers are only given a certain amount of time to educate you. After that, you are on your own. Formal education is only there as training wheels to get you started on a path towards learning. Most people forget that formal education should only be the beginning. There are millions of new things to learn and explore once you get out of school. Never stop learning. Your education is the most important thing that you have in this world. Nobody can ever take it away from you. 6. “Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.” Let’s face it, there are some things in life that you find very difficult to do. Whatever it may be, I promise you can learn enough to where you will reach a point where it simply isn’t difficult for you anymore. Just think back to when you were a little kid and the things you couldn’t do. You struggled with learning the alphabet. You struggled with addition and subtraction. But now (hopefully), these things are a piece of cake. There’s no reason to wish that your difficulties were easier. For someone out there the thing you find difficult is very easy for them! What you should wish for is that you were better and more capable of getting it done. I used to wish that writing long articles was easier. If you looked at some of the first sites that I ever did, it was almost impossible for me to write an article that was 800 words in length. I simply couldn’t do it. Now, with this site, it’s almost impossible for me to write less than 800 words! I just go on and on about the topic that I write about. I’m constantly cutting down the length of the articles that I write. What was once very difficult for me (a 800 word article) is now very easy for me. What is it that you are having trouble doing? Whatever it is, I bet if you work on it a little bit every single day, in a year or less, it won’t be nearly as difficult as it is for you today! 7. “Profits are better than wages.” This is a fact that probably 9 out of 10 people never learn or consider in their lifetime. What does it mean exactly? Well… In order to obtain wealth, you must think in terms of how you can make a profit. What is it that you can sell that will provide value to other people? By thinking in these terms, you will be much better off than if you are thinking about how you can go from making $15 an hour to $20. With profits, you can have an income stream flowing into your bank account on a 24/7 basis. With wages, you are only earning money when you are there working. If you make a living through wages and you aren’t there to work, you won’t make any money. The same cannot be said if you are earning profits. With profits, there is no guarantee on how much money you are going to make. Nor is there is a salary or an hourly wage. However, when you have success by earning profits instead of wages you get a much larger slice of the pie. Sometimes you get the whole pie! Never get comfortable with the idea of getting a paycheck. Instead, constantly try to find ways to sell a product or service to someone that is worth far more than what they pay for it. And also charge for it far less then what it costs for you to make it. When you can do this, and you can do it well, wealth and success will quickly follow. 8. “The best money spent is money invested in yourself.” I must say that this quote has cost me thousands of dollars in books and audio tapes over the years. And I’m sure it will continue to do the same in the months and years ahead. However, even when I realize how much I have spent on books, I’m still very grateful that I did and I have no regrets. Why is this? It’s because I know that the amount of value that I got out of each book is worth far more than whatever I paid for it. Every time I am on the fence on whether or not to buy a book, I always think about how much I expect to get in return for having read it. For some people, it might not make any sense to spend $100 on a book about taxes. But if the knowledge that you acquire from that book helps you save thousands of dollars a year, isn’t the cost of it well worth it? I certainly think so! There simply isn’t a better way to spend money than in ways that it will help you earn more money. If you are looking for a great investment, the best stock that I know of is the fund that is between your ears. That’s the fund that’s really going to pay the huge dividends. It’s a fund that pays well in the short term and even more in the long term. Start today and build your library of great books. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. That’s because it is so important on your road to success. For more great quotes by Jim Rohn, please visit Brainy Quotes.
