5 Tips For Christmas Shopping Online

I absolutely LOVE Christmas. I usually spend a good part of Cyber Monday, credit card in-hand, Christmas shopping online for the best deals.
I've always been known by friends and family as an "online shopper." The deals you get are just incredible, not to mention the fact that I'm very picky and have to read every last review on every product I buy..
With all of this being said, I wanted to share with you a few tips and tricks I've learned about Christmas shopping online. Here are my top 5 tips...
1) Find coupon codes - I never buy ANYTHING without first going to RetailMeNot.com. Simply punch in the Web address of the place you are planning to purchase from and find great coupon codes. You can also do a simple Google search for coupons, but almost always RetailMeNot is first on the results.
It's very easy to find 10-20% off coupons here. Which makes it more than worth the 10 seconds it takes to look.
2) Check multiple places - An obvious tip, but a good one. Don't assume places like Amazon will have the best deals all of the time. Smaller sites are desperate for customers, and will also show this desperation in their prices.
I found a great Blu-ray player for about 30% cheaper than what I would have paid on Amazon. Thanks Newegg! :-)
Also, if you buy books, my favorite site-checker is allbookstores.com . It checks every top site to buy books, Amazon, Alibris, Half, eBay, then lists each site in order of price.
And don't forget tip #1. Alibris.com almost ALWAYS has a $1 off coupon on all of their books, no minimum! Sometimes you can get lucky and get $2 off. $1 may not sounds like much, but if you're buying several books, it really starts to add up!
3) Watch out for eBay - Yes, eBay is the cheapest place on Earth to find great stuff. But, you're at the whim of the seller in regards to when you receive it. I would at least contact the seller before purchasing to make sure they will be sending the item out well before Christmas.
Needless to say, I made this mistake once and was giving a family member a January Christmas present!
Also, watch out for backorder items at non-eBay sites. Don't assume that all companies are guaranteeing your item will arrive before Christmas. Some companies do a great job, but some don't.
4) Wait to buy in bulk - Amazon gives free shipping with $25 or more. ThingsRemembered.com was giving free shipping, and $20 off if you spent over $100 on Cyber Monday.
If you know you are going to be purchasing multiple things from the same place, wait to do it all at once.
5) Gift Card Deals - For those cousins and other see-a-few-times-a-year relatives, gift cards are the gift of choice. But don't assume with a gift card you are trading cash for a card. Often times, you can do much better. Check out Restaurant.com and you can get a $25 gift card for just $10! I found a coupon and bought a $25 gift card for just $4!
Also, check your credit cards. With your Discover card, you can get $25-30 gift cards with just $20 of your Discover cashback points. And since you get these bonus points automatically just for using your card, this basically makes these free gifts to give to people!
Christmas shopping onlineis fun and easy. And with these tips, it can be a huge help to your wallet as well!
