Are You In Need Of Some Job Search Help?

If you are reading this page, chances are good that you are looking for some form of job search help. You're probably looking for any trick, tip, or tool that will get you a job so you don't have to deal with this suffering any more.

I've already written a few secrets to what I thought helped me land my first job. Now I want to show you a little motivational guide that will help you get through those long and difficult days.

Whenever I'm searching for ideas, I always use a great idea generator called Mindmapping. What it is, basically, is writing a problem at the top of a sheet of paper,  and then writing 20 solutions to that problem.

So during my job search, I simply wrote at the top "How Can I Have A Job By [insert date]?" Then I came up with 20 answers that would lead me to getting a job. And believe it or not...

It worked!

Every morning I would read this list of 20 answers. And every time I would feel myself getting depressed, I would go back and read it again.

I considered this list my greatest secret in staying as positive as possible in a very depressing time.

Right now, I'm going to give you this list. Along with a basic explanation of what I meant or how it helped me. I encourage you to either write down this list, or come up with 20 unique answers of your own. And read it every day.

This list, if followed through consistently, is basically a foolproof guide to getting a job. If you did everything on this list on a daily basis, it would be almost impossible for you not to get a job within 6 months. Likely much sooner.

So without babbling too much more, here is my list of 20 answers to finding a job. I hope you find it useful...

1. I call 10 people per day using the Internet.

Go on Google Maps and search for companies in your area. Then call the number on their contact page and say you want to be interviewed.

If you can have the courage to call just 10 people per day using this method, I promise you will get at least one interview within the next 1-2 weeks.

2. I fax 5 people my resume per day.

Faxing is better then emailing resumes for two reasons...

1. You won't get spammed. Many job postings are fake and only posted to collect email addresses and try to sell you something.

2. Someone actually has to pick up a piece of paper and look at it. When a hiring manager has 300 emails sent via email, its too easy to hit the "delete all" button.

Don't have a fax machine? You don't need one. I used MyFax.com which was free the first month and only $10/month after.

3. I call people 2, 3, 4 or more times so they know I'm interested and determined.

The biggest so called "secret" to job searching is persistence. With the job I ended up getting, I didn't hear anything from them until the fourth time I emailed them.

You simply have to bug people until they either tell you to stop or tell you to come in for an interview.

4. I create cold call lines and know what I am going to say before I call.

I read about cold call lines in the book The Job Search Solution which hammers the point about calling people on the phone.

Basically, let the person you are talking to know who you are, why you are qualified for the job, and how you think you can help the company. Then, politely ask if you can sit down for an interview.

5. I let everyone know that I'm job searching and am open for any leads or advice.

You need to use all of your connections when trying to find a job. Let every friend and family member know you are looking. You will be amazed at how many leads and tips you will get!

Usually the people you know the least are the most helpful because they know more people that you aren't associated with. So ask everybody!

6. I find a career that I'm excited to look for.

There is a career out there that you would actually "love" to do. I promise. If you haven't found it, you simply haven't looked hard enough.

When you are searching for a job that you actually want to do, it makes all the difference in the world.

7. I demand as many interviews as I can.

Be persistent when asking for an interview. If they say no at first, hammer them with more benefits of why you would make a great hire. Then ask them for an interview again.

Any great salesman will tell you that a majority of the sales come after the first no.

8. I realize it's a numbers game and not to take it personally.

Job hunting is all about numbers. The more calls, the more interviews you will get. The more interviews you get, the more job offerings you will get.

If you think in terms of numbers, you won't take it as personally with all of the rejections you will likely receive.

9. I realize that if they are not interested then it's more of their loss than mine.

A company would be very thankful that they hired you. This is the attitude that you need to have. Stop calling yourself worthless because you're not.

You could be the "answer" that all businesses are looking for.

10. I understand that I am a great hire and someone out their is hoping to find me.

All businesses are scared. Scared they aren't going to meet company goals or stay in business. Remember that many companies are desperately trying to find a qualified individual like you that can help them grow.

Once again, have the attitude that someone out there is going to be thrilled the second you sit down for your first day at the office.

11. I understand this is difficult and that there are millions of people that are going through the same thing.

You aren't the only one suffering. So stop feeling sorry for yourself. Almost everyone goes through it once in their life. So pick your head up and start looking some more.

12. I realize I am better and much more capable than other people at finding a job.

By reading this page, you are way ahead of everybody else. I considered this list my secret weapon. You should do the same.

13. I look forward to going somewhere new and exciting every day.

We all have fears when we go somewhere that we have never been before. Consider it a fun journey and a great chance to see some new territory.

Soak it all in before you finally get hired and get into the daily grind of doing the same thing over and over again.

14. I enjoy the experience because it makes me a better person.

Any time you face your fears, you are building up your money making muscle. Those that get ahead in this world are those that can look their fears in the eye and do it anyway.

Job searching is great because you have the opportunity to face your fears daily. This makes you a much stronger and better person.

15. I get a job knowing I can always get a new one later.

Just remember you aren't signing a lifetime contract when you get hired for a job. If it doesn't work out, you can always look for a new job while you are getting paid at your current one.

16. I call without knowing or caring if a job is available

Sometimes the best way to get a job is when companies are "thinking" about hiring but haven't committed to doing so. At least, that's what happened to me.

When you look for jobs in places where nobody else is looking, you gain a serious competitive advantage!

17. I call without caring if I upset someone.

Don't get me wrong. Don't be rude or yell at someone, ever. But chances are that when you are making all of those calls, someone is going to be having a bad day and they are going to take it out on you.

This is where you go back to reminding yourself it's a numbers game. Simply hang up the phone, and call the next person.

18. I call and look forward to the stories I can tell later.

You can occasionally get to talk to some very important people. You can also talk to some complete idiots. Be sure to tell your family and friends about who you spoke to that day and what was said.

19. I find a way to make the job search fun.

Come up with some possible way to make job searching fun. Job searching can be a miserable experience, or it can be exciting. That is based solely on the attitude that you make of it.

Make a rewards system. Allow yourself to eat a whole bag of cookies for every ten calls you make! Do something fun and crazy. You'll be glad you did.

20. I make the job search a competition.

When competition is involved, it brings out the best in you. If you know someone else who is job searching, have a friendly bet that you will get hired before the other person.

If you can find some way to make a game out of your job search, it will help you that much more during the difficult times that job searching can be.

Final Thoughts

Job hunting is a very difficult time for anybody. Don't feel bad, because there are millions of people dealing with the exact same thing that you are right now.

Almost everyone has dealt with what you are going through. So hang in there because there is always light at the end of the tunnel. It may not seem like it for you right now, but it will come.

Don't give up. Write down and read this list of 20 job search help solutions as often as you can. The take action on the advice.

By doing so, the time when you will sit down for an interview and they say "you're hired" is inevitable.
