Why You Should Know And Use The Power Of Visualization

Visualization involves thinking in your own mind, a desired outcome in order for it to become a reality.

It’s a powerful mind technique that can really make a difference in your life. That is, if you believe in it and are willing to give it a try.

If you want any of the following…

  • the ability to get more things done in less time
  • better self-esteem and confidence
  • more belief that your desires will become a reality

If any of these sound like you, then you are in for a real treat!

The more success books I read, the more I see mentioned the power of visualization. This led me to believe that it must be a pretty important subject!

So I decided to use some of these techniques in my everyday life. And it has been nothing short of incredible how much they have improved my ability to get things done throughout the day.

The Visualization Technique

Think about an Olympic sprinter getting ready for a race. They are taught to picture in their mind exactly how and what they are going to do.

Before the race even starts, they feel that they have already won because they have pictured it in their mind.

This is exactly what you can do in your everyday life! You can visualize yourself going through the day and doing everything perfectly, and when the time comes around to actually do it, you will feel like you already have. It may seem silly at first, but it works! Now…

Their are two times during the day where visualization can have a dramatic impact. These times are right before you go to bed and when you first wake up in the morning.

The time right before you go to bed is a very important time. Your brain never stops thinking. So give it something to really ponder while you are resting…

Think about what you are going to do the next day and how you are going to do it.

Picture yourself waking up. What is it that you would like to do when you wake up? Whatever it is, visualize yourself doing it and doing it well!

For me, I usually wake up and go for a morning jog. So I start off by picturing myself running a mile faster than I ever have before.

Whatever it is that you do in the morning, see yourself working on it until it is completely finished.

Visualize your perfect day from start to finish.

You might be starting to think that all of this is a little silly and that it isn’t going to do anything for you. But the truth is, this technique is truly magical and it really does work!

Try doing this every night before you go to bed. You will start to realize that you have a lot more motivation to do whatever it is that you visualized. You will also begin to notice that it is much easier to get these things done.

You will feel as if you have already done them before.

After you visualize at night, start re-visualizing your day in the morning. I visualize my day as I am jogging. But maybe you would rather do it while you are eating breakfast. Or as you are driving to work.

Don’t be afraid to go beyond that…

If you have a few minutes to think during the day, visualize whatever you are planning to do in the next few hours. Visualize as much as you can!

And as always, picture yourself doing things at the best of your ability. This is so important.

Why Visualization Works

Visualization works for a few reasons. One reason is because it eliminates any fears or worries that you might have.

If you are really dreading to do a project, by imagining yourself working on it, it will help your mind believe that the project isn’t as bad as you are making it out to be.

It’s these little mind games that you play with yourself that really make the difference.

Another reason visualization works so well is it helps keep you organized.

Organization is so important. It is amazing how much time it saves you throughout the day. Visualization helps keep you organized by having you decide in advance exactly what you are going to do and when.

This will help you move from one thing to the next in little time at all. When you do this, you will get what you need done faster so you can spend more time relaxing and doing the things that you enjoy the most.

You can go through each day without planning or visualizing. But you will be much more likely to get things done if you do them.

Final Thoughts

The truth is this…

Visualization can only do so much for you. You can visualize the perfect day and wake up and do something completely different.

It still requires a bit of self-discipline to make this day become a reality.

Constantly tell yourself to work on whatever it is you were planning to do. Don’t let yourself get side-tracked. This may sound obvious, but it is amazing how many people forget to do this.

Truly believe that you can do whatever it is you visualized. This will make a huge difference in how effective it is for you.

Also, be as vivid and detailed as possible. Really imagine that you are living that perfect day. The more real it feels, the more likely it will happen.

Please do try using the power of visualization. And don’t be surprised when your self-esteem, confidence, work-ethic, and everything else start to go up!
