The Best 3 Quotes About Fear
Overcoming fear is
ten times more important than you think.
Each day, we are tested with decisions that make us choose between facing our fears head-on, or putting them off until later.
Over
the years, I've studied every possible tip and trick for conquering
fears. I did this because I believe it is vitally important to have
courage. To have the willingness to try and do different things.
During
my research, I have discovered three basic quotes that have worked
extremely well for me. A great majority of the time, these quotes
simply melt away any fears that I have.
I encourage you to learn these three quotes. And not just memorize them. But to understand the meaning behind them and
why it is that they work.
I promise your life can begin to change if you learn how to master your fears. Along with
self discipline, I consider overcoming fears to be one of the most important areas of personal development.
Experiment with these quotes, and see just how far they can take you...
"Fear is not your
enemy. It is a compass pointing you to the areas where you need to
grow."
- Steve
Pavlina
This quote is quite frankly a way to live your life by. I can't even
begin to tell you how my life has changed once I started thinking of my
fears in this manner.
I always think of this quote in terms of
The Pirates Of The Caribbean movie series with Johnny Depp. If you are
not familiar with these movies, Captain Jack Sparrow (Depp), has a
magic compass. This compass's special power is that it always points to
where his greatest desire is located.
In a way, I believe that we all of a magic compass built inside of us.
Somehow
and someway, when our mind begins to fear something, it's a part of us
deep down telling us that this is what we most need to do.
Now,
I'm not talking about ridiculous fears. If a huge crocodile is staring
you down, I wouldn't recommend walking towards it! But the little
things that you fear daily, often dealing with money, weight loss,
etc., are incredibly important to learn how to deal with head on.
I challenge you to think of this quote each time you fear something for
the next week. Start to believe that your inner fears are simply a compass showing you the way to a better life.
"What we fear doing
most is usually what we most need to do."
- Tim Ferriss
This plays right along-side the previous quote. You absolutely
have to start growing the ability to face your fears on a daily basis.
I'll go even further and give you a bonus quote that complements this one nicely. It's taken from
The 4 Hour Workweek. Please keep in mind I am paraphrasing what it says...
"With fear of the unknown, define the worst case, accept it, then do it!"
When
you think about the worst possible thing that could happen, you'll be
surprised to see that the answer to your question is often times, "Not
much."
I've noticed this quite often when I am afraid to make an
important phone call. I ask myself, "what is the worst thing that could
happen?" The answer may be something like, "the other person will be
slightly annoyed with me" (aka not much). Once I realize that the worst
case is no big deal, I immediately pick up the phone and start to dial.
Get
in the habit of asking yourself what is the worst thing that could
happen before you start doing something you fear. At least
999 out of 1000 times, the worst case scenario that you draw up doesn't happen.
This
simple quote has allowed me to go from procrastination to action on so
many different occasions. I'm sure it will do the same for you!
"All you have to do
to diminish your fear is to develop more trust in your ability to
handle whatever comes your way."
- Susan Jeffers
Understand this, the biggest reason why you fear something stems from a lack of self-confidence. Period.
Think
about the last thing that you procrastinated on. I almost guarantee
that the real reason you did so was because you had some tiny lack of
self-confidence and you decided that you could put off these fears for
a later time.
If you use and understand these three quotes, you
will find yourself putting things off less and less. You will become a
person of action instead of a person that has regrets later in life.
The
more positive your attitude is, the more you will start taking smart
risks and doing the things that most people procrastinate on.
Don't
underestimate you own ability and don't
overestimate
the abilities of others. You are more than smart enough to handle doing
the things that you fear. The faster you realize this, the better off
your life will be.
Use these three quotes with all of the fears you face. I promise it will be much more valuable than you think.
