Who is John Galt? You Are!

Spoiler Alert: If you’ve never read the book Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, and are planning on it, this article discusses details from the book that you may not want to read.

The book Atlas Shrugged still today always seems to get publicity, especially around election years, despite the fact that it was written in the 1940s.

It's a story in which Ayn Rand discusses her underlying philosophy, Objectivism, through a towering 1100+ page novel.

Towards the end of the book, the most wealthy and greatest thinkers begin to go on strike against a government and society that is becoming out of control. Implementing a policy where all of society has to maintain the status quo, and innovation and achievement are basically forbidden.

The leader of this strike is a man named John Galt, whom few people really know, but developed a motor that would have changed the world had he not went on strike and hidden his motor from the world.

After reading the book, you can't help but think about what a strike like this would do in today's society. It's also interesting to think about the main characters, and who most resembles them today. There's actually an interesting book, I am John Galt, that goes into this very question.

But what I want to describe and talk about though is why you (yes you!) have the ability to be the John Galt in the story. Someone who defies the rules of your society, and chooses instead an existance that you believe in.

How To Become John Galt

Unless you've been living under a seriously HUGE rock for the past few decades, we are in a technlogical revolution unlike any other.

Never before has it been more possible for the average Joe or Joan to start there own business. And they can do it from almost anywhere, with no or very little money, provided they have access to a computer and the Internet.

You can seriously start with nothing today but a little bit of brains, mixed with a lot of motivation and a Wifi connection to completely change your life. Now, getting back to John Galt...

John Galt's whole premise was to leave a society and its laws that he disliked, and move to a hidden location where he and others were free to come up with their own rules, in this case a laissez-faire capitalistic society.

In today's world, doing this the way John Galt did it wouldn't be quite so easy. We would find his "hidden location" on Google Earth and the paparazzi would cover his every move and post it on all of the social media and gossip sites! :-)

However, if you share similar beliefs as John Galt and....

1) Strongly dislike the rules and system of your home country

2) Want to live in a system that better matches your beliefs, such as one that's cheaper, warmer, and more free.

Nothing today is stopping you from doing so!

You don't need to go to the extremes of building your own island like some people do, but you could probably find a country that more closely matches your beliefs. If paying zero taxes sounds like a utopia to you, that's all very possible today, and legal too! Lots of countries are basically tax free.

If better weather is something you've always dreamed of, there are places on this Earth where you can relax on the beach, sipping Margaritas 365 days a year!

The key to making all of this possible is to being able to generate income by working from anywhere, which is all very do-able in today's age.

If you want more details on how to accomplish this, I've never came across a guide and process that's more do-able for anyone than with SBI!. It's how this site was built, and it taught me pretty much everything needed to know about starting an online business. This should provide a nice start towards living your dreams.

If you are the type of person that is always talking politics and complaining about your countries direction, I assure you that you don't need to suffer any longer. There is an alternative country today that holds much closer to your beliefs.

Don't wait idely by for politicians to "wake up and get things right" because it's probably never going to happen. Not in your lifetime.

Instead, take a more proactive approach and "vote with your feet" by moving to a much better location.

In other words, be more like John Galt!
